My sister and I decided to go on the yoga retreat with Michaela after I attended some of her classes in London. As it was our first retreat we were unsure what to expect but it exceeded all our expectations. We were beginners to yoga and the retreat was a great way to immerse yourself in the yoga way of life for a weekend. We truly felt rested, rejuvenated and energised by the yoga, Ayurvedic treatment and beautiful setting of Tilton House. The group was diverse and interesting and we learnt a lot from each other throughout the weekend. Michaela is a fantastic yoga teacher who brought together a great weekend programme and lots of fun along the way. I would not hesitate to book another weekend with her some time soon.

Set in the world renowned Ayurvedic resort with a direct beach access, this 9 nights retreat is designed to inspire, transform and enhance your wellbeing through the combined science of Yoga & Ayurveda, two of the most effective and practical self-healing methods to reduce the effects of stress on your body + mind and to bring balance into your busy lifestyle so you can feel healthy, happy and live the life of your dreams.

We will explore the relationship between Yoga & Ayurveda and how the union between both sciences, their origin, principles and goals can help you breathe life into your life using prana or the life force energy that can transform your existence from the physical to the deepest spiritual level of your being.

Drawing from the authentic yoga tradition and philosophy, Ayurvedic principles and energetic healing systems, you can expect a fusion of breathing exercises (pranayama) combined with simple yet challenging yoga poses, meditation, mindfulness and visualisation techniques.

This retreat is designed to help you release tension, fears and blockages throughout your body and mind in order to create more space to live, love, dream, create, grow, share, give and connect with yourself and will cover the following key areas:

• Life force energy attunement
Learn the basic principles of breathing (pranayama), how to breathe correctly and control your breath to balance your energies, cleanse your nervous system and ignite your inner glow.

• Breathing life into your life
Discover two simple steps to help release tension and discomfort as we explore the deeper relationship between your physical body and prana. Learn how to open up and create more spaciousness head to toes.

• Dare to live your dreams
Learn how to control your thoughts and actions to create more headspace, change your perception, live in the present moment and transform your life inside out.

We'll be focusing on self-observation of your physical, mental and spiritual body, giving you a chance to re-connect with the nature and yourself, energise and restore, increase vitality, relax your busy mind and nurture all senses. Whether you're a novice or a regular yoga practitioner, I promise you a fun life transforming experience so you can return home glowing on the outside and feeling fantastic on the inside!

The retreat at Tilton house was a magical experience. Being a novice to both yoga and Ayurveda, I was unsure of what to expect, and this retreat definitely met all my expectations and more. It is amazing how you ‘can get away from it all’ in such a short distance from London. We managed to fit in so much over only 3 days and still I left the retreat feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I am not sure what I enjoyed more- the Ayurvedic treatments which were tailored to me personally or the yoga classes which were tailored to the Ayurvedic dosha’s - the combination of the two is excellent and I left with my body and mind wanting more. I would highly recommend treating yourself to such a magical experience. Looking forward to the next one!

I just wanted to say what a fantastic yoga retreat weekend I had at Tilton House which you organised perfectly. The venue was just excellent, with very comfortable rooms and bedrooms in such a wonderful location near Lewes. It was perfect place for the retreat. There was just the right amount of yoga sessions and each session had great variety. I came away from the weekend totally revitalised. The whole weekend was brilliantly planned by you and the group you got together also really connected well and I know many of the others were delighted like me by it all. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it especially any guys who feel unsure as to what to expect. Very well done Michaela, I look forward to joining you again on another retreat weekend sometime soon.

What a wonderful, restorative retreat! Thank you so much for all the thought and planning you put into it making it such a success. And what a great opportunity to explore yoga practice and learn something of Ayurveda too. Thoroughly enjoyed the classes, the treatment, the delicious food - and all of this in such beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The idea of joining another retreat with you is very appealing indeed!

So now you probably have a good idea of what you want to get out of this retreat, but did you know that by participating in my Yoga + Ayurveda :: Breathing Life Into Your Life retreat in Sri Lanka you'll be also giving back?

I believe that helping and giving back is the essence of yoga and that's why I feel so strong about supporting non-profit initiatives and charities whenever I can. The story of Gandy's flip flops and their 'Orphans To Orphans' foundation has been on my radar for some time so when I started planning this Sri Lankan retreat I knew this was a perfect match. It's really simple, the investment you make in yourself by participating in this retreat will directly support and help transform lives of less fortunate children and families in Sri Lanka, the founders of Gandy's (Rob & Paul) original home before they were tragically orphaned at the ages of 15 and 17 in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

You see, the free pair of Gandy's flip flops you receive as part of your booking goes a long way! When you book your space via my website and pay the deposit for the retreat, I'll send you a link to choose your Gandy's, your preferred style and size. It will then be delivered to your home within 30-60 days but definitely in time for the retreat so you can enjoy your new flip flops in Sri Lanka.

If you haven't heard of Gandy's before, please visit their website and share your love at

The retreat will start with a welcome restorative session with Michaela at 5pm on Saturday 9th April 2016. Unless you decide to arrive the night before, please aim to arrive early afternoon so that you have time to unpack and relax before the session. The session will be followed by dinner.

Our last session will be on Sunday 17th April 2016 in the evening and the check-out time is on Monday 18th April at 12 noon. Unless you are staying longer at the resort, please arrange your flights for Monday 18th April 2016.

Absolutely, this retreat is designed to suit people of all levels. I tend to keep the group small to support each and every participant - their needs, condition and ability in a safe environment.

No, you are responsible for sorting out your own flights. When booking your flights, please make sure your arrival / departure fits the retreat schedule (see the check-in and check-out time above) and don't forget to inform Barberyn of your flight details in advance so they can arrange transportation to/from the airport for you.

Your transfer from/to Colombo Airport and Barberyn Reef Ayurvedic Resort in Beruwala is included and takes about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Once you clear immigration and customs at the Colombo airport, you walk into an open area where there are counters operated by the banks and you can change your money there. As you walk out of this open area (still within the airport building) stop there and look around for the Barberyn driver with your name-board. The driver will accompany you out of the airport and will ask you to stay at the entrance to the airport while he goes and gets the vehicle from the car park. This may take about 5-10 minutes depending on the arriving traffic. If you cannot see the Barberyn driver at the greeting area, please wait for a moment, he won't be far away. In case you wish to call, the telephone number of the resort is: + 94 (034) 2276036 or + 94 (034) 2276134.

Yes, you will need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. Tourist visas are normally issued for a maximum period of 30 days and you can apply for a short stay visa online at for $30.
